Jan Silberstorff

Jan Silberstorff was born in 1967 in Hamburg, and began learning martial arts when he was 15 years old, starting with an external kungfu system. After some years practicing, he came to know about the internal styles, and got interested in Taijiquan (tai chi chuan). When he was 22 years old, he decided to travel to China to learn, and lived in Xi’an and Chenjiagou for 4 years. He was one of the first foreigns to arrive in Chenjiagou looking for instruction. In the Chen Family’s village he was introduced to Chen Xiaowang, who accepted him as his first western indoor desciple. When the Grandmaster moved to Australia, he kept traveling to Sydney to be trained by Chen Xiaowang. In Sydney, Jan took part in the founding of WCTA, the association representing the Grandmaster worldwide, and was pronounced president of the German branch by him. Under his leadership, WCTAG spread to more than 120 cities and now has certified more than 250 teachers, having around 2500 members. WCTAG organizes dozens of yearly Chen Taijiquan (tai chi chuan) seminars. Jan is now rocognized all over the world as one of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang’s most skilled students. He is presently invited to teach in more than 15 countries.
Jan teaches seminars in Brazil since 2004, and together with Liana Netto has founded WCTA-Br, the brazilian branch of WCTA, being the Technical Director of this branch by order of Chen Xiaowang.
